Flower Frenzy
Flowers remind me of the elder ladies in Wye Mills who sat on their porches and carefully observed who was coming and going - sure to be the subject of a phone call later that day. They were very proud of the flowers framing their front porches. As I walked by, I would say "Your flowers sure are pretty, Mrs. Miles" and she would say "Thank you, but they're not for pickin', just for lookin' at." "Yes, maam." At least she did not say, "You sure are an ugly girl" like that old woman said to Scout, when she complimented her flowers in the movie "To Kill a Mockingbird." I don' t know the names of many of these flowers, so feel free to comment if you know a flower I have not identified. Either way, enjoy. Oh, almost forgot - The "Buzz On" photo was a winner in the 2009 Maryland Magazine Photo Contest and "Ahead of the Pack" was selected as a Smithsonian Magazine Photo of the Day on their website in 2011.
